Within the scope of XJazz- Jazz Encounters in the Aldeias do Xisto, Figueira was the stage for the Italian Paolo Angeli’s concert, on June 16th, at 10pm.
Born in Sardinia and currently based in Barcelona, Paolo Angeli constructs, from his prepared guitar, a whole imaginary Mediterranean folklore.
The traditional Sardinian guitar gained, in Angeli's hands, multiple strings, mechanisms controlled with (mechanical) pedals, hammers and a few other unusual but fully functional additions.
Over the past few years, he has collaborated with Pat Metheny, Hamid Drake, Fred Frith, Iva Bittova, Takumi Fukushima, among others.
