Planta do Xisto, located in the Aldeia do Xisto of Cerdeira, in the municipality of Lousã, is holding a workshop, Introduction to Natural Cosmetics and Handmade Soaps, on 2nd October, between 10am and 4pm.
Programme
- Presentation
- Brief explanation about the use of aromatic and medicinal plants in cosmetics
- Good practices for harvesting, conservation and methods of extraction of active agents
- Types of cosmetic formulations (ointment, cream, gel, powder, paste...)
- Basic principles of ointments. Preparation of an ointment of marigold and lavender (suitable for first aid, wounds, scrapes, burns, skin inflammations);
- Lunch break
- Field trip and identification of aromatic and medicinal plants
- Brief introduction to soap making: procedures and precautions
- Preparation of a soap for dry/sensitive skin
- Each participant takes home an ointment and a bar of soap.
