Joana Guerra is a Portuguese composer, cellist and singer whose non-conformism and passion for experimentation has led her to regular collaborations with numerous musicians from different genres as well as dance, performance and theatre projects, influencing and interweaving a permanently-expanding, unique universe.
In the show that’s part of XJazz- Jazz Encounters in Aldeias do Xisto 2021, scheduled for 31 July in Aldeia das Dez, Oliveira do Hospital, he will perform his brand new album "Chão Vermelho", which comes to us four years after the acclaimed "Cavalos Vapor". For this new chapter of the adventure, Joana performs with Maria do Mar (violin) and Carlos Godinho (percussions).
"Chão Vermelho" immerses us in a world of experimentation and risk taking that transports us to the apocalyptic scenario of parched ground where nothing can grow any more, but which is interrupted by surprising songs that evoke, as a murmur or a pagan prayer, the ever-imminent possibility of regeneration.
