The Aldeias do Xisto network will once again be present at the renowned International Iberian Mask Festival which will be during four days at Rossio Square in Lisbon. In this ninth edition, the Aldeias do Xisto will participate through the exhibition of regional food products and traditional or contemporary handicrafts.
This 10th May (Saturday), at around 4:30pm, will be marked by one of the most important moments of this festival, with the Iberian Mask Parade, which will feature the “Traditional Shrove Tuesday of the Aldeias do Xisto of Góis”.
Several revellers will parade, following old traditions, in a large memorable masquerade party. The “Traditional Shrove Tuesday of the Aldeias do Xisto of Góis” recaptures the past when the revellers, wearing traditional masks and dressed up – men dressed as women and women dressed as men – would stroll through the villages making noise, frightening old ladies and seducing the young ones.
The Mostra das Regiões (Regions’ Expo) is on display to the public every day of the festival and is free to enter. Here you can find regional products, handicrafts, tourist and cultural events, Iberian gastronomy and wines, concerts and entertainment.
