The Aldeias do Xisto will be present at the 14th edition of the Bike Festival, which will take place between 6 and 8 October, in Santarém, at CNEMA - the National Exhibition Centre. The Aldeias do Xisto will be present at the Bikotel stand (stand B31) and also at the stand of the Portuguese Cycling Federation, with the Cyclin’ Portugal project, promoting all the trails, services and events of its vast offer linked to the practice and enjoyment of cycling.
Aldeias do Xisto Cyclin' Portugal: Cycling, Tourism and Land
The Aldeias do Xisto are the experimental territory for the Cyclin’ Portugal project. Under the auspices of the Secretary of State for Tourism, this partnership between ADXTUR, the Portuguese Cycling Federation, Turismo de Portugal and the Turismo Centro de Portugal, promotes cycling and bicycle tourism in our country both nationally and internationally. Benefiting from the excellent hosting and practice conditions existing in the Aldeias do Xisto, new paths are searched for in affirming cycling for all as a fundamental contribution that active tourism and nature tourism have to offer in the development of this region.
It is not by chance that Cyclin’ Portugal located its laboratory of excellence in the Aldeias do Xisto. Here the instinct for the bicycle is able to take us through many paths, as here there is a whole region to explore on two wheels, either on the road or on a trail. There are national and international races, some counting towards the general classification for the season. The MTB Centres have routes for all levels, including downhill. In road cycling we can experience the emotions of the great international races in the Epic Climbs. Or simply let yourself blend into the scenery by cycling through the Bike Roads, a selected set of the best scenery and roads. It is not surprising that many athletes seek out these mountains to challenge themselves and test new equipment and handling.
What is guaranteed is a high level of fun and contact with the most authentic scenery of the Aldeias do Xisto, passing along ancient trails, crossing water mills, bridges and river beaches, and making close contact with the places, the people and their culture. The reward is breath-taking landscapes and sensations that only a bicycle and the Aldeias do Xisto can provide.
