The Sobral de São Miguel Sports and Cultural Group “Os Galitos da Serra”  maintains a dynamic and active role in a village that never let its traditions die-out, that absorbed knowledge, but proudly kept its origins and roots.

This sporting and cultural Association, based in the Sobral de São Miguel Aldeia do Xisto informally dates back to the beginning of the 1950s, however, its official status was only granted on May 8, 1980.

In December 2001, a mainly young board of directors revitalised the group, with ambitious objectives intended to contribute to the development of the parish.

The rebirth of "The Galitos da Serra" not only marked the development of sports, but also contributed to promote the interest for traditions and cultural activities.

Over the last few years, among the activities promoted by the Association, the following stand out: athletics and indoor football; the parties and themed balls; traditional games and Penitent processions.

Currently "Os Galitos da Serra" work collaboratively with other organisations such as "O Núcleo de Caçadores" or the "Xistrilhos" group, while still cooperating with local institutions.

Despite the visible loss of population that affects the parish, there has been a constant effort to keep the flame burning, trying to provide activities such as:

• Organisation of a socialisation area, every weekend, for the promotion of recreational activities: table tennis, table football, chess, draughts, card games, traditional games...;
• Carrying out sports, cultural, and recreational activities;
• Promotion of traditional events (penitent processions, bonfires for patron saints, magusto (St. martin day chestnut roast)).
